A Winter Gathering in Nara: Cousins, Cuisine, and Cold Delights
As winter’s chill settled over Nara, our family embarked on a delightful journey to visit my younger brother – Jason and his family. The excitement was palpable, especially for my two children, Kuya Jeo (6-years old) and Lana (2-years old) , who were eager to reunite with their cousins, Ate Hesed (5-years old) and Zeteo (2-years old). The day promised a perfect blend of family bonding, delicious cuisine, and outdoor play in the crisp winter air.
The Gathering
Our rendezvous unfolded in my brother’s cozy backyard, where the air was adorned with the magic of winter. The kids’ laughter echoed as they once again meet their cousins, creating an atmosphere of warmth and joy. It was a reunion filled with smiles and the promise of cherished memories.
Culinary Delights
The highlight of our visit was a delectable lunch featuring two culinary delights that brought together our cultural backgrounds – Paella and Sisig. The tantalizing aroma of the Spanish-inspired Paella mingled with the savory notes of the Filipino Sisig, creating a feast for the senses. The fusion of flavors mirrored the diverse tapestry of our family, weaving together traditions and tastes in a harmonious culinary celebration.

On the other hand, Sisig, a Filipino delicacy renowned for its sizzling perfection, added a spicy and savory kick to the feast.
The table became a canvas of cultural richness, with each dish telling a story of heritage and shared experiences.
Playtime Adventures
With satisfied appetites, the kids embarked on a playful adventure with the Anpanman slide. The whimsical laughter of the children echoed through the crisp air as they navigated the slide with sheer delight. The simplicity of their joy became a reminder of the magic that can be found in the most ordinary moments.
